The Long-eared Owl is native to much of Eurasia and North America. Thanks to Alexandra Makhnina for

A juvenile with horizontal rather than vertical chest bars. The "Long Ears" are often laid flat on the head,
leading to confusion with the similar Short-eared Owl. In addition to having longer "ears" (tufts of feathers that aren't really
the bird's ears) than the Short-eared Owl, the Long-eared has deep orange irises rather than yellow.
