The bird shown is suspected to be a hybrid Linnet. The red front is more orange than the cardinal red of a
usual male linnet, there is only slight red on the grey head, the light eye-rings are absent and the back is streaked like a wild Canary.
The rump is red like a Twite.
The other parent is thought to have been a Canary, possibly crossed with a captive linnet for the pleasing song of both males.
