These fighting male Great Tits were photographed in Kazakhstan by Alexandra Makhnina who called them the "Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors"
for the way they appeared to almost reflect each other's action and pose. (I was told by a local expert when in Almaty that the more colourful
Great Tit (nominal subspecies) was introduced to Southeast Kazakhstan, where it hybridizes with the related, less colourful,
native Turkestan Tit Parus (major) bokharensis.)
