The Dipper, also called the White-throated or European Dipper, as its name suggests dips its
body and takes dips in the water while hunting for small aquatic prey. It also wades, dives in and flies low along rivers/streams.
A subspecies of the European White-throated Dipper prevalent in Central Asia has a full white
underside and is known as the White-bellied Dipper (see separate link below).
